Tweed approved for marijuana research

Cannabis producer Tweed Inc, Smith Falls ON, has received a dealer’s licence that will allow the company to focus on strategic research-intensive activities beyond its existing operational scope. Tweed, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canopy Growth Corp, will undertake its licensed activities under the name Canopy Health Innovations in a purpose-built area of its facility constructed to GMP specifications. Tweed is developing new products in anticipation of the legalization of the recreational marijuana market, which is expected in either 2017 or 2018. The company also intends to pursue export of its products into jurisdictions that also allow recreational marijuana. The firm is currently restricted to serving the medical marijuana market….
